Hay I have known the poem for a long time and don’t know where its from but what ever I’m going to post it any way.

Hold out both arms palms up. Then move the lower part of one arm up and down 30 times wile keeping you elbow still. Then compare the two arms you will notice that one will be a few inches shorter the other.

How to make a unicycle video

There are many way of sharing your unicycle skills but by far the most fun is making a video. Anyone can make people say “hay I like your video” or “you’re pretty good” it just takes some practice. You will need a camera preferably a good quality one, a computer with editing software, and a bit of unicycle skills. You will need either a tripod or a friend with a steady hand.
To go about filming you should film you self doing what you normally do and do all you most advanced stuff lets say you are riding down a 15 set of stairs you should film it in multiple angles. If you are doing a trick that is you just got the hang of show a few bails.
Once its time to start the editing process you must try to keep the following things in mind. Do not repeat the same footage over and over again, do not use a lot of special effects the only effects you should in my opinion are slow-mo, if it’s a trick that is not very obvious as to what it was add title to inform the viewer. Now its time to add music there aren’t rules as to what music you need to add so stay with something you like. And if possible try to pick music that goes with your video.
Know you are don’t the only thing left is to decide where you want to put it so people can see it there are many sights my favorites are youtube, unicycle.tv, and vimeo.

never under inflate your tire to a point where your rim will hit the ground
always make sure it fits well and can be used for your uni
don’t assume there’s a leak if it gets faster then normal: during the winter the air will contract so it will escape through the valve faster

Crash “owww I fell again I’m never going to learn this stupid thing.” cried Kevin
“Yes you can you just need to practice.” remarked his dad as he was 1 foot idling on his 24 inch Muni.
“No the stupid thing only has one wheel this is for clowns”
“ok if you want you can stop I’ m not going to make you learn how to ride one but before you go in put the unicycle in the garage.”
“ok” as Kevin is outing the unicycle away he notices an old dusty box so Kevin being a curious kid looks in the box in the box he sees a bunch of old Disney movies but there is one movie that catches his eye its titled Old Unicycle Movie so he sneakly brought the movie up stairs to the tv and plays it he is amazed at what he sees there people doing extreme unicycling like mountain unicycling and street unicycling. Immediately he turns of the tv and runs to the garage to get his unicycle for four straight hours he practiced but finally his dad come out and says
“Kevin come in its time to eat dinner,”
“Hold on look at this first” Kevin can know ride all the way around the block five times
“Wow Kevin what made you decide to try again?”
“I found a video of extreme unicycling in a box in the garage and it looked so cool I had to learn.”
“ok” but you need to eat dinner first you can continue tomorrow.”
“Fine”
The next day Kevin goes out to unicycle and in one day he is able to hop up and down stairs, idle and started to learn 1 foot riding.
“Kevin. Your learning so fast I bet by next week you will be better than me” said his surprised dad. Witch was kind of true but not really because in two more days he broke his unicycle on a four foot drop so it took another four days to get a new one.
After about one month Kevin was good enough to compete at unicon and place. So he did. Lucky that year’s unicon was held in Marietta Georgia right near the unicycle.com showroom witch was only about 15 minutes away from his house. When he got there to register it he was amazed at all the unicyclists, he had never seen so many unicyclists in one place before. As he stepped up to the table Kevin handed him the form. The old man looked at it and laughed a little bit.
“Are you sure you want to compete in trials and street those are the most popular events this year.”
“Yes I’m pretty good I think I have a chance.”
“Ok it’s your choice.” The next day is when the contest really began first was street.
“Next up Kevin Jones” said the man with the megaphone
“Good luck Kevin” cheered the his family
Kevin rode out to the center of the park and amazed the doubtful crowd with a really nice double flip then hops up the 10 set, two stairs at a time then did a trey flip to a backwards grind down the hand rail and a side ways wheel walk at the bottom. The crowed went wiled. Immediately he rode a ramp up to a higher level of the park and did a perfect fithflip down the 4 foot drop and he ended his run with a back flip dismount. The whole crowed went wiled. Kevin was swamped by fans, photographers, and heads of unicycle companies wanting to sponsor him. But Kevin ignored most of them and continued to watch the other people. When it got dark he rode home ate dinner and practiced on the trials curse he built in his backyard it was not much it had pallets and skinies, but the most impressive part of the whole thing wasn’t for trials he built a foam pit and a ten foot drop going into it. To get up he had a stair set but the stairs where one inch skinies an the there was 1 foot of space between them.
The next day he woke up got ready and rode over to the trials contest and did pretty poorly compare to most of the other riders. I’m not going to go over to it in detail because talking about trials is kind of boring. Kevin stayed and watched the other trials riders got a few autographs when a man walked up to him and said
“hay I saw you yesterday and I think you’re pretty good would you like to be on my team”
“OH MY GOOD YOU,RE KRIS HOLM” Kevin quietly yelled
“Yea but can I talk to your parents for a bit.”
“Ok their right over there” Kevin points to his parent’s and Kris walks over talk to them.
One day after unicon Kevin was sitting at home when the mail come he looks over and sees a letter that says on it Kris Holm Unicycles so he opens it and…

A Unicycle Story

Over the weekend I was on a rely long intense 5 mile unicycle ride on my torker cx. When I got home I put my unicycle in its stand and went to bed. In the middle of the night I awake to a loud crash immediately I sit up a realize that my unicycle fell over “oh that odd” I thought and I went I want back to bed. In the morning I get ready to ride my unicycle to school only to find that my tire was flat so flat it would harm the unicycle if I rode it. The next day I take it apart and put an old tire on it from an old bike I had it worked great. I came in for dinner and put my new and improved unicycle in the stand. In the middle of dinner there was this loud BAM so loud it sounded like a gun shot. So I ran into my room to see what happened and sure enough I looked at my unicycle and the inner tube popped because it was over inflated so know im just sitting here with no means of transportation.

Unicycle competitions And the people that win to them

There a re many different unicycle contests and conventions these include, Unicon, Fluck, and NAUCC (North American Unicycle Championships and Convention). All those competitions are pretty intense and only the best unicyclist can compete and win, but there are other contests in more of a local level. One contest that I can think of right now is not even a unicycle contest but a trials bike contest that they let unicyclists into that contest is called belle island bike trial. There are many more local contests but I can not name them all.

About Unicycling And Unicycle History

There are a lot of theories of how the unicycle came to be but the most common one is the idea that the unicycle evolved from the penny farthing bike. People have this theory because they found that you do not need the wheel in the back so they made a simpler version. There are many types of unicycling other then clowning these include Standard, mountain unicycling (aka Muni), street, trials, freestyle, Flatland (aka flat), and long distance.

Standard: The most popular type of unicycling is just men for short transportation. Usually done on a 20” unicycle

Muni: Riding on trials either man made or natural. Usually done a 29”-36”

Street: Done in an urban environment using stairs, rails, or whatever else you can use to set up tricks. Usually done on a 20”

Trials: Done in a natural or urban environment using what ever you want to get up on or over obstacles. Usually done on a 16”-20”

Flat: Doing tricks like street but only on a flat surface. Usually done on a 20” with a long seat post and a square fork

Freestyle: Very similar to flat but with an added performance aspect. Can be done on any unicycle

Long distance: pretty self explanatory riding long distance at a high speed. Usually done on a 29”-36”

How to Unicycle

How to unicycle first you need to buy a unicycle I suggest http://www.unicycle.com/ but you might be able to buy one from your local bike store. Unicycle prices range from $1500 to $70 I would suggest you buy a cheap unicycle for learning on then once you are better you can buy another one. My first and only unicycle is the Torker Unistar CX it cost a bit less then $90 including shipping.
Once you have a unicycle you need to learn how to ride it. First you need to get used to it to do this hold on to a rail of a fence and get on the unicycle at first this will be hard but you will get used to it. Once you can stay still on your unicycle holding on to a rail you should try to ride well holding on to a rail this may seem hard but keep practicing no matter what.
One of the final steps to learn to unicycle is to be able to ride around unassisted when you do this start by holding on to something the push on and ride and remember these things its okay to flail your arms around to balance yourself, try to keep your body over the seat so you wont start to lean and an keep your weight on the seat because if its on the pedals the unicycle will swerve, remember one last thing a unicycle is not like a bike you need to peddle at all times you can not coast.
The final thing is to free mount free mounting is a way to get on the unicycle unassisted. To do this you will put the pedal that is on your less dominate foot close to you. For example I’m right footed so I will put the left pedal close to me. Once you know what peddle you start with you put seat between your legs then push down on the pedal close to you so the unicycle will role under you. Then put your other foot on the other pedal and go remember try to stay over the wheel but if you lean to far forward pedal faster and if you lean back to much pedal slower.
Another simple thing you can do is to static hop. That is an easy trick you even out you peddles and so your good foot is in front and then hop like a pogo stick once you can do this try to hop up curbs and stairs.
